The Day Venice Beach Took Its Culture Back

Venice Beach came alive as Super Patch Revolution united skaters, locals, legends, and clean energy for a historic free event with a $67,000 purse and a movement to give skate...

On June 14, 2025, the Venice Beach Skatepark didn't host a contest. It hosted a homecoming.

The Super Patch Revolution Skate Series rolled into Venice with a simple idea and a stubborn belief: skateboarding belongs to the people who built it. Not to the brands that flooded the scene with sugar and caffeine, slapped a logo on it, and sold it back. So we did something nobody had done before. We handed the whole thing over to the community, and watched Venice feel like Venice again.

By the end of the day, it was the largest skate event the park had ever seen, with the biggest purse in its history.

A $67,000 PURSE THAT WENT DEEP

Most contests pay the podium and send everyone else home. We didn't want a day where three people won and a hundred lost.

The top three took home the headline prizes: $25,000 for first, $10,000 for second, $5,000 for third. Then we kept going. Every skater who finished in the top 12 walked away with $3,000. All in, that's a $67,000 purse, money that landed in the hands of working skaters, not a marketing budget.

Competing was free. Attending was free. The only thing it cost was showing up and giving it everything.

BUILT BY VENICE, FOR VENICE

Here's the part Parks & Recreation staff said they'd never seen: an entire event built using only Venice locals. Local vendors. Local emcees. Local judges. Local artists. Local youth programs. No brand had ever run it this way.

"Nobody gives us a free event run by locals," one staffer put it. "You didn't take from Venice. You honored it."

To make sure our success was the community's success too, Super Patch made a direct financial contribution to Venice Beach Parks & Recreation, money earmarked for skate infrastructure and youth programs that outlast a single afternoon. The event ends. The investment stays.

Local vendors earned real income. Local artists got a platform. Local kids felt like they mattered. This wasn't a production. It was a partnership.

Nobody gives us a free event run by locals.

You didn't take from Venice. You honored it.

THE LEGENDS SHOWED UP TOO

Community-first didn't mean star-empty. Far from it.

Fabian Alomar, former pro skater turned actor and youth advocate, presented the event he helped bring to life and handed out the awards to the top finishers. DJ Luijay ran the decks and kept the park moving. And the field itself was stacked, with legends like Guy Mariano and Vincent Alvarez standing shoulder to shoulder with Venice locals and first-timers.

As the sun dropped, the picture said it all: pros lifting up locals, girls cheering for boys, boys cheering for girls, 12-year-olds trading lines with underground legends. A scene that had been fractured felt whole again.

THE ENERGY BEHIND IT: NO WINGS, NO BULL, NO MONSTERS

For years, kids in skateboarding have been sold a lie: that energy means sugar, caffeine, and a crash on the back end.

At Venice, they saw another way. The day was powered by the BOOST Super Patch, a drug-free wearable that uses vibrotactile technology, gentle signals through the skin, for clean energy. No pills. No sugar. No caffeine. Skaters and kids tried it on the spot and felt the difference for themselves.

The point was never to sell a patch. It was to show a generation that you don't have to choose between being cool and being healthy. There's a third option, and it doesn't come in a can.

No wings. No bull. No monsters. Just clean energy.

THIS WAS A CULTURAL RESET

A father got the money to see his daughter. A young girl found her voice in front of a crowd. A community got its culture back. And a generation of kids learned they don't need chemicals to belong.

Super Patch didn't enter the skate world. We honored it, protected it, and returned it to the people who built it. Venice was the first chapter (the series carried on to New York City that August), but it all started in the place where skateboarding was born.

This is the Super Patch Revolution. The movement starts here.
